Valentine's Day Devotional

It is almost Valentine’s Day and that means a little something different for everyone. When you are a small child it’s the excitement of creating your valentine’s day box and making cards and treats for your classmates. As a teenager it’s wondering if anyone has a crush on you or will get you a valentine. As an adult it may be looking for a significant other. If your married maybe spending extra time with your spouse. If you are widowed it may be spent thinking about the love that you had together. Valentine’s day is different for everyone, but the main point is love. I don’t think Valentine’s Day needs to be about romantic love, I think it can be about the love that we show each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. Love can be kindness, showing others that we care about them. When we are kind to others, we are not only showing our love for them, but we are also showing God’s love for them. There is no love greater than the love of God. Psalm 136:26 says, “Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.” I have decided that this year on valentine’s day I am going to do something nice for someone that will not be expecting it. I haven’t decided what I will do yet, but I’m looking forward to figuring it out. I hope that on valentine’s day that you will remember that you always have someone who loves you more than you could ever imagine. You are never alone and always loved. So, even if you don’t get a valentine’s day card and you don’t have a date you will always have a God that admires and loves you more than you know.

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should

be called children of God; and so we are.” – John 3:1

Have a blessed week,
