PRAYER OF THE DAY Let us pray. A brief silence is kept before the prayer. We thank you for this day of celebration. As we gather today, we remember our role as learners and seekers of faith. We give thanks to all those present or away who support the teaching and learning that takes place through our congregation. Be with all children, youth, and adults who will be participating this year in our Sunday / Wednesday school and Christian formation groups. Bless our times of study so that we may all grow in faith. Bless our times of fellowship so that we may truly live as brothers and sisters in Christ. Bless our times of prayer and worship so that we may be enriched in our spirits. In your Holy Name, we pray. Amen.

HOLY COMMUNION LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,

thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,

forever and ever. Amen.

HYMN OF THE DAY: Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee (#836)

APOSTLES’ CREED (ELW p. 152)

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.*

On the third day he rose again;

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father,

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

Confident of your care and helped by the Holy Spirit, we pray for the church, the world, and all who are in need. A brief silence.

God of faithfulness, you bid your people to follow Jesus. Set the mind of your church on divine things. Grant us trust in you, that we lose our lives for the sake of Christ and thereby discover joy in life through him. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of springtime and harvest, we give you thanks for being the Lord of all the seasons of our lives. From birth to death, you hold us in your hands and feed us with the abundance of the earth and the love of your Spirit. Especially on this day, we give you thanks for those who work on the earth you have created, farmers and gardeners, who till the soil, plant the seed, tend the crops, and harvest so others may eat. Keep all safe and may harvest be abundant. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of all nations, you call us to live peaceably with all. Give us ears to hear one another, even those we name as enemies. Fill all leaders with mercy and understanding, that they advocate and genuinely care for those who are poor and most vulnerable in their communities. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of salvation, you promise to deliver us. Give those who suffer a strong sense of your presence and love. Accompany those who are uncertain, raise the spirits of those who are despairing, and heal the sick. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of community, you call us to rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, and persevere in prayer. Make our congregation a workshop of your love. When we quarrel bring reconciliation. Help us overcome evil with good. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God, we praise You for who You are. We give You thanks because You created us in your own image. We pray for knowledge and understanding for teachers, students, staff, and families and that you would be with them as they start this new school year. We pray for their safety and health and to ease nerves and anxieties. Let joy, friendship and knowledge be found. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

In the certain hope that nothing can separate us from your love, we offer these prayers to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

OFFERING SONG: Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound (ELW 779) vs 1-4

OFFERING PRAYER Let us pray. Blessed are you, O God, maker of all things. Through your goodness you have blessed us with these gifts: ourselves, our time, and our possessions. Use us, and what we have gathered, in feeding the world with your love, through the one who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

SENDING

God blesses us and sends us in mission to the world.

BLESSING (ELW p. 155)

The Lord bless you and keep you.

The Lord’s face shine upon and be gracious to you.

The Lord look upon you with favor and ☩ give you peace.

In the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. Amen.

SENDING SONG: Go My Children with My Blessing (#543)

DISMISSAL Go in peace. Serve the Lord. Thanks be to God.
