GATHERING This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. The Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God.
GATHERING SONG: How Firm a Foundation #796 vs.1-2 SHARING OF THE PEACE PRAYER OF THE DAY:
Let us pray. A brief silence is kept before the prayer.
ALL- O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without you nothing is strong, nothing is holy. Embrace us with your mercy, that with you as our ruler and guide, we may live through what is temporary without losing what is eternal, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
Confession and Forgiveness (ELW p. 94).
Kyrie – (ELW p.147)
Canticle of Praise
LORD’S PRAYER - Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
APostles’ creed - I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.* On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
CHILDREN’S MOMENT – children may head to Sunday School
1st Reading: Revelation 21:1-4
21 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people,[b] and God himself will be with them as their God.[c] 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Psalm: Psalm 46
1 LEADER- God is our refuge and strength, a very present | help in trouble.
ALL-2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be moved, and though the mountains shake in the depths of the sea; 3 LEADER- though its waters rage and foam, and though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
ALL- 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 LEADER- God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be shaken; God shall help it at the break of day.
6 ALL- The nations rage, and the kingdoms shake; God speaks, and the earth melts away. R
7 LEADER- The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. 8 ALL- Come now, regard the works of the Lord, what desolations God has brought upon the earth; 9 LEADER- behold the one who makes war to cease in all the world; who breaks the bow, and shatters the spear, and burns the shields with fire. 10 ALL- “Be still, then, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth.” 11 LEADER- The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Prayers of Intercession
Gathered with one voice, we offer our prayers for the church, the world, and all who are in need.
A brief silence. God of roots and branches, defend the leaders of your church as they proclaim the gospel using discernment, wisdom, and brave testimony. Keep all the baptized on righteous paths in response to Christ’s call. Hear us, O God. ALL- Your mercy is great.
God of roaring seas, in a world of earthquake, famine, and plague, use your mighty power to nurture the land and all that lives upon it. Restore peoples and places experiencing natural disasters. Strengthen organizations who provide aid to any in crisis. Hear us, O God. ALL- Your mercy is great.
God of victory, among quests for power, guide those in government, courts, law enforcement agencies, and the military. Turn them from war and violence to actions of care that build up the common good. Hear us, O God. ALL- Your mercy is great.
God of healing, Care for all who are ill, anxious, or in pain of any kind. Hear us, O God. ALL- Your mercy is great.
God of new songs, in a congregation of faithful believers, energize us for compassionate service and delight us through worship and inspired prayer. Encourage your people in building equitable community where all are valued. Hear us, O God. ALL- Your mercy is great.
God of every generation, we remember the saints with steadfast love and faithfulness. Confident in Christ’s victory over death, may we be inspired by the example of the faithful. Hear us, O God. ALL- Your mercy is great.
We offer these and all our prayers to you, O God, trusting in your grace and unyielding love; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
